Introducing Shifo

Why we built Shifo, who it's for, and what we're working on next.

April 20, 2026The Shifo Team2 min read

Hospitality teams don't fail because people stop caring. They fail because the work between shifts, between roles, and between systems is quietly drifting through sticky notes, WhatsApp groups, paper rosters, supplier emails, and the supervisor's memory.

Shifo is our attempt to bring all of that into one place.

What Shifo is

Shifo is an operations platform for hospitality teams. A hotel, restaurant, or café can plan the week, run the day, register hours, manage leave and contracts, and export everything payroll needs at the end of the month.

The building blocks are simple:

  • Sections — the kitchen, the bar, the front desk, the housekeeping floor. Each has its own members, tasks, and shifts.
  • Tasks and templates — daily and recurring work, with checklists, comments, attachments, and a real "done" you can audit.
  • Shifts and the week builder — drag-and-drop scheduling with role and availability awareness, draft until you publish.
  • Time clock — a shared-tablet PIN pad for the staff entrance, or self-service clock-in from the dashboard.
  • Leave and balances — vacation, sick leave, plus and minus periods, all flowing back into the schedule.
  • Staff contracts — hourly wage, weekly hours, end dates, encrypted at the application level.
  • Payroll-ready exports — hours, surcharges, breaks, and labor cost the way your bookkeeper or payroll provider wants them.

Why we built it

We worked with operators who were losing an hour a shift to "did someone already do this?" and another two hours every Friday to "what did everyone actually work this week?" They had run out of whiteboard space. They were paying people to re-check closing duties because the morning team wasn't sure. They were copying hours from a paper roster into a spreadsheet, then into the payroll provider.

Those operators didn't need yet another single-purpose tool. They needed software that understood what a shift is, what a handoff is, what overtime looks like, and what "done" means on a busy Friday night.

So we built it. One platform, one source of truth, no copy-paste between systems.

What's next

We're focused on three things:

  1. A native mobile app for staff who live on the floor and never sit at a desk.
  2. Deeper labor-cost visibility, so you see the cost of a shift while you're still planning it, not after payroll closes.
  3. Integrations with the payroll, accounting, and POS tools operators already use.

If you'd like to try Shifo, start the 14-day free trial. No credit card. If you want to tell us what would make your shift easier, we'd love to hear it.
